A captain on a small fishing boat in Iceland, Gammur SK12 requested assistance from the coast guard earlier today. A whale was stuck in his net. He had tried to cut him free himself but the whale slammed his tool out of his hands with his tail. The captain had therefore no other option but to ask for help to set the whale free.
The coast guard sent out a light boat to assist him freeing the whale from the net with a crew of three. The rescue operation was video recorded and you can watch the operation here below.
When they finally succeded the whale waved the tail for one last time and then disappeared into the blue.
Well done, coast guard!
